Why the message board was unavailable

Well something happened today that I cannot remember happening to ComeOnYouSaints.Com in my time as a viewer, poster or editor.  It went into admin mode and the message board shut down.

Why did this happen?

Sportnetwork who are the owners of the platform require front page stories in order to be able to earn sufficient in advertising revenue to be able to support and provide the site.  Advertisers pay much more for news page hits than they do for message board hits.  So if we do not publish a story every two weeks then the site goes into Admin Mode.

This year we have had a dearth of people stepping forward to provide articles.

The editors - as has been stated elsewhere - are feeling jaded, and so have had the disappearance of the site and what most of you use - the messageboard.

If you want this not to be a regualr occurence then please step forward and supply articles that can be published.

I did wonder if that had happened. Real shame.

Eds - I can do the preview of the Leinster away game if that is okay?

Cheers
David

A bit off the wall, but wonder if the club will let COYS do some articles within the club itself - maybe we can go through Chris?

Maybe some of us could interview members of the board / backroom staff etc re playing matters, commercial, medical, training etc etc

Just a thought, but it would give the site copy for articles plus maybe allow a closer relationship to develop between COYS & the club

I'd definitely be interested in exploring it &, if the club agreed, maybe doing something like this would allow some of our more 'cynical' posters to be involved & do something more proactive in trying to get answers to the questions they want to ask

Happy to ask if we think it's worth exploring

In the old days OddShapedBalls used to go to the weekly press conference and interview players. I think Mumsnet must have read them and taken up his line of questioning on favourite biscuits smiling smiley

If you have the time and inclination then I am sure it is something that can be explored with Chris.

The message board will pack in soon because it will not be able to cope with all the Mallinder out posts.
