NEWS: Teams Up: Worcs v Saints

Northampton Saints director of rugby Chris Boyd has named his squad for Friday’s Gallagher Premiership Rugby clash at Worcester Warriors.
The men in Black, Green and Gold travel to Sixways (kick-off 7.45pm, live on BT Sport) having won four of the last five matches between the two sides.
Following last weekend’s cancelled Challenge Cup match in Romania, Boyd has made ten changes to his starting line-up – with several of Saints’ senior players returning to action in Worcester.
Club co-captains Dylan Hartley and Alex Waller return to lead the side at Sixways, with tighthead prop Paul Hill completing the front row. David Ribbans and Courtney Lawes start together in the engine room for the seventh time in the Premiership this term, while Tom Wood, Lewis Ludlam and Teimana Harrison make up the back row for Northampton.
Cobus Reinach and Dan Biggar are reunited in Saints’ half-back positions, with No.9 Reinach hoping to add to his tally of six tries in all competitions so far.
Luther Burrell and Piers Francis make up Northampton’s midfield once again, and Taqele Naiyaravoro, Tom Collins and Ahsee Tuala complete the line-up in the back three.
Meanwhile amongst the replacements, flanker Jamie Gibson is poised for his 100th Club cap should he enter the fray from the bench, and Heinrich Brüssow is in line for his first Premiership appearance since September.

Huge game, two decent looking sides, I hope the action on the pitch lives up to the promise. I can't wait. I must say that the Saints' bench looks very strong, so hopefully we'll have none of the drop-off in performance in the last 20 that we saw against Falcons.

Good looking team and strong looking bench.
Would agree entirely with Deesaint,TAKE THE POINTS as they become available,when we are then in,hopefully,a comfortable position we can start playing,again hopefully,some great flowing rugby.

Not totally sure with the Selections at Prop.
I think Hill/Painter really are our best options there with hopefully JFR coming back.
Waller/Franks would be my preferred choice at LH.
I also feel Davis has got too be close to leapfrogging VW now.
Going to be a tough assignment, Wuss are a good team and will be targeting this game as a good chance to get points at home.

Like the Newcastle game, I think this is a big game for saints. Lose this and with sale and Newcastle at home this weekend I think we will be bottom come Monday. Bottom of the league at Christmas should ring huge alarm bells across the club. I see that we've picked the strongest side and most experienced team on paper even though I think some of the younger players have performed better than those selected this season. I said before that this block of games (Wasps X 2 Newcastle Sale Worcester Exeter) should represent a good opportunity to pick up 3 or 4 wins. I doubt we will pick up wins against Wasps and Exeter so if we only end this period with 1 win relegation will become very realistic. If that does become realistic what does the club do next?
This may sound very negative and I genuinely believe we have a chance tomorrow but the season is ticking along and we must find some form. Good luck Saints.

Need to shut down there 9. He's massive for them. Confident in a 4 point win with Francis at 12. We attack better when he plays

Tight heads in this order for me
Hilly (strong at scrum time on his day one of the best in the country)
Jammer ( great tactician taught by one of the best needs games)
Painter ( going to be a good player needs to become more street wise and that takes time)
Franks (great asset around the park & in defence , a target for the opposition at scrum time)
Loose in this order
Waller ( just needs to work harder around the park)
Davis ( works hard deserves a run of games)
VW (better than last year but still not sure about his scrummaging)
Toby (just back fit again needs games and time to develop)
Hilly (strong at scrum time on his day one of the best in the country)
Jammer ( great tactician taught by one of the best needs games)
Painter ( going to be a good player needs to become more street wise and that takes time)
Franks (great asset around the park & in defence , a target for the opposition at scrum time)

Luther selected at Centre to try and physically dominate Venter I think. Tough on Dingwall but he has played lots of rugby so far. Shame to see Kellaway in injured, let's hope Collins has a good one, particularly in defence. Please, Naiyaravoro go looking for the ball. Would have preferred Mitchell to start, then Reinach off the bench.
Not overflowing with confidence. Strong Warriors team, at home, fighting to stay out of relegation fight - we haven't fared too well in those sorts of contests recently.
Do we have the mental fortitude, game management, and skill execution to see this one out? On form you'd have to say that we don't.
Form, though, is there to be improved.
Sharks and Newcastle both at home this weekend means we could well be bottom come Monday.

Worcester have some real quality in that line-up. They have been playing well and are at home.
I haven't seen the odds but I'd be surprised if they aren't favourites.

I think there'll be a more widespread acknowledgement of the fact that, if we lose, we are in the c**p. It's games like this one that are must wins, games against teams around us. If we won this but lost at home against the Chiefs then not do bad. To lose tonight and v Chiefs, well then I'd suggest things are looking a bit bleak. I used to be really confident we'd beat Wuss but we've not been good there for quite a while.

If I need motivation to see this game won I just need to think about Alan Solomons and his dire episode as Saints boss. I always got the impression he wasn't interested...the results certainly suggested that.
