  • BAIRD INSPIRES WIN.

    So a 3-3 draw and a higher crime count than a Glasgow housing estate saw the first Angus derby pass, this was followed by a 2-1 defeat to a Higdon inspired Falkirk. This was again followed up by a stunning 4-0 away win at hapless Stenhousemuir. All thats missing from this season so far is a nice home league win, when better than the 15th when East Fife stroll in to town.

  • FIRST ANGUS DERBY OF THE SEASON

    So a 5-1 trouncing of first divison Stirling Albion was followed up by a 1-0 defeat in the league away to Stranraer, the season is already shaping up to be a bit of the usual for Montrose FC. Tomorrow sees the first Angus derby of the year with both teams struggling to find some league form.

  • A WEEK IN THE LIFE OF MONTROSE

    So what a week it has been for Montrose. The opening day of the season saw Motrose failing to live up to pre-season form and go down 1-0 to Albion Rovers. Wednesday nigth saw the long trip south to Stranrae with goals from Gibby & Stein seeing us progress in the CIS cup. Yesterday saw Montrose take 3 points away to Elgin thanks to John Baird's superb brace.

  • ANOTHER SEASON IS UPON US

    So the new Irn Bru 3rd division season is upon us and as all supporters head for bed tonight they will all be dreaming that come the end of April they will see their team lift the league trophy. What are Montrose's chances this year? How has pre-season gone? What about the new players? Its all here.

  • JAGS SLAYED BY ROGERS

    Montrose kicked off the new era at Links Park with a 2-0 pre-season win against a lacklustre Partick Thistle. Montrose looked fitter than their full time counter parts for most of the game and all the new signings played a part. Apart from a couple of first team players the depth of the squad was exposed with the amount of youngsters on the bench.

  • IS WEIR LOCO TO LET MICHIE GO?

    Montrose FC last week announced the clubs pre season friendlies and news also filtered through that striker Scott Michie has been sold to Inverurie Loco's for a fee around the £5,000 mark. Michie who didn't get a look in once Jim Weir took over was looking for regular first team football and when Weir signed John Baird the writing was on the wall.

  • NEW PLAYERS

    Jim Weir completed a daring swoop on Montrose's local rivals at the start of the week and signed three players. Mark Peat widely regarded as the best goalkeeper at this level has put pen to paper and signed a contract that will see him ply his trade at the revamped Links Park. Utility man Ian Dobbins & winger Jay Stein have also signed contracts.

  • END OF ANOTHER SEASON

    So Montrose ended the season on a high with back to back victories. A 3-2 home win against Stenhousmuir & a 2-0 win away to Elgin. The good thing to come out of the end os season run in was John Baird who has signed a one year deal with Gable Endies.

  • REBUILDING BEGINS TODAY

    A win sandwiched with 2 away defeats has summed up Montrose's season perfectly. They played well in both defeats but lost some silly goals and 6 points got away. The away win against East Stirling will gave the boys a much needed lift.

  • QUEENS TAKE THE POINTS

    The week before saw 2 dodgy penalties given against Montrose and the 2 points slip through the net. Chris McLeod was sent off and Montrose's red card count continues to rise.
