MONTROSE WIN SOUTH OF THE BORDER

From all accounts Montrose just didn't turn up in the first half and some poor play from Berwick meant that the team went in a goal down. The 2nd half was a different story and saw Montrose take all three points with a much improved showing.

So a difficult trip south of the border saw Montrose pick up all three points on offer. After a poor first half in which Berwick took the lead through Thomson's toe poke the team went in at half time a goal down.

Whatever was said by Robertson at half time had the desired effect though as Montrose and especially Andy Rodgers came out for the second half. The drew level within 3 minutes of the re-start, Henslee with his third of the season after some neat play from Rodgers. Montrose pressed and should of increased their advantage but some poor finishing from Michie and the bar from a fierce shot from Rodgers had the game looking as if it was headed for a draw.

Then Rodgers who was proving to be a thorn in the Berwick defence all day won a free kick which was floated in by John Adams to be met by Chris Mcleod who nodded it in to the net.

The downside of the trip was that Higgins limped off injured. But thanks to the international break he will be in contention for another difficult trip to Dumbarton this coming Saturday.

Montrose now sit thrid in the table and if they can keep this form going look like they will be there or there abouts come th ebusiness end of the season.
