Montrose travel to East Fife on Saturday

Preview: Montrose look to lay to rest the ghost of last week's trouncing at Gretna, but it wont be easy against an East Fife side who are unbeaten in the three league games so far.
Montrose visit the former mining town of Methil to take on East Fife at New Bayview tomorrow (Saturday 24 August). The Gable Endies will have to "dig deep" (geddit? mining?) to overturn an East Fife side which is peppered with former Montrse players. Jim Moffat manages the side which contains ex-Links Parkers John Allison and Jim Butter who moved from Montrose in the summer, along with Craig Farnan who took the short drive from Station Park, Forfar.
Last year, the honours were shared between the sides, racking up two victories each, and, perhaps surprisingly, wonderkid Paul McManus, who netted twice in the 2-0 defeat of Montrose in January 2002, is still there, although there are rumours that he has rejected a new contract offer.
Checking out the East Fife websites, one of the most interesting things about them is that they have a women's team. And very fit they look too. In a purely footballing sense!
Last year's results with Montrose scorers in brackets:
18/9/2001
EF 1 Mo 2 (Kerrigan & Laidlaw)
24/11/2001
Mo 2 EF 1 (Trialist (McKinnon) & Kerrigan)

EF 2 Mo 0
23/3/2002
Mo 0 EF 1
