Montrose return home from dismal away fortnight

Montrose take on Elgin City at Links Park on Saturday, hoping to avoid three defeats on the trot. We look at last year's games against the Borough Briggs side and uncover an interesting fact...!
Montrise return to Links Park on Saturday after a miserable fortnight of away games. Successive defeats against Gretna and East Fife mean that the pressure is certainly on to kick start our season.
Elgin won a fine 3-0 victory over their Highland neighbours Peterhead last week, and Saturday's game will be a real "six-pointer" with 3 points currently between the sides.
Last season, honours were shared with two wins apiece. Steve Kerrigan scored once in each victory for the Mo with Laidlaw grabbing the other Montrose goal.
December's tussle at Links Park saw McKinnon sent off for handball in the box after 4 minutes and Johnston joining him for a professional foul early in the second half.
2001/02 stats
29/9/01 - Elgin 1 Montrose 2 (Kerrigan, Laidlaw)
15/12/01 - Montrose 0 Elgin 2
2/2/02 - Elgin 1 Montrose 0
6/4/02 - Montrose 1 Elgin 0 (Kerrigan)
And that interesting fact? It seems that Elgin are sponsored by a local businessman who is on their board. He is Gordon Williamson and his business is Skip Hire. So let's hope that Montrose "skip higher" up the league come Saturday evening!!
