Montrose started with a surprise at left back. Stuart Ferguson was replaced by Graeme Thomson for this game against the 2nd placed team in Division 3.

The game was the opposite of Saturday's dour affair, and both sides were playing quick attacking football. Ralph Brand, in for the injured Kerrigan, had a shout for a penalty denied, but it would have been a soft one.

Morton looked hungry and Montrose survived a penalty claim, a goal line clearance, and McGlynn came to the home side's rescue on a couple of occasions to keep it level at half-time.

Morton turned the screw in the second half and forced a number of corners, and McGlynn turned in a vintage performance to keep the Greenock side at bay. Montrose created some chances too, but some poor finishing in front of goal meant the points were shared.

From the substitutes bench, Craig replaced Brand and played on the left wing for a while. Then Webster was replaced by Budd and Craig moved to the right as Budd slotted into the left midfield.

This was a battling performance by the Mo against as good a side as I've seen at Links Park this season. Graham Christie was magnificent in defence, but Gary McGlynn was man of the match with some heroics between the sticks.

Morton brought up a sizable travelling support, and their vociferous fans provided some welcome atmosphere, but if there was an award for Overreaction to Refereeing decisions, they would surely walk off wth it!
