Scottish League Division Three, Saturday 5 April 2003, Links Park, Montrose. Montrose 0 Stirling Albion 1 (Crilly (39)). There's only two Stevie Kerrigans...
This game could have been sub-titled "There's only two Stevie Kerrigans" as the number nines in both teams go by the same moniker.
The game was even for the first 45, with neither team really getting the chance to put their foot on the ball. Montrose were using the high ball all too regularly and it was being handled comofrtably by the hefty Binos defence. Riley went close from 25-30 yards after around half an hour, but the Binos opened the scoring on 39 minutes with a sweetly curled free-kick from just outside the penalty area by Crilly. McGlynn could only get fingertips to it.
The pattern continued in the second, with Montrose carving a few chances but lacking the penetration to finish any of them, and Stirling looking the more useful when they got the ball down and passing. Thomson and McDonald came on for Donachie and Webster, but, to be honest, it seemed as if we couldn't score in a castle-ful of Ulrika Johnsons. Henderson did well up front for the Mo, holding the ball up and causing the Stirling defence a couple of scary moments.
