Scottish League Division Three, Saturday 12 April 2003, Links Park, Montrose. Montrose 1 (Kerrigan 12) Albion Rovers 1 (Bradford 40)

The Montrose side had an unusual look again with McCheyne in the centre half position with Christie away on his honeymoon, and Graeme Thomson in left midfield. McDonald had his first league start since February 8 alongside Webster and Kerrigan in attack. It was good to see club captain, Grant Johnston, taking his place on the bench, coming back after injury.

Montrose started brightly, a million times better than last week's shoddy performance, and were a goal up after 12 minutes. Good work down the left by McDonald and Webster resulted in an inch perfect cross for Kerrigan to head home.

Both teams were trying to push forward, and Rovers' Silvestro was fortunate to stay on the park after a vicious tackle on Webster which left the young winger writhing in agony. The Rovers number 8 escaped with a caution.

As half-time approached, Rovers were enjoying their best spell of the match and forced a number of corners form which only the agility of Gary McGlynn saved Montrose. However, the home goal bulged on 42 minutes as Bradford skelped home a fine volley to equalise.

Both teams continued their endeavours in the second half, and Montrose made some good chances, with Kerrigan missing probably the best one when he booted over the bar from inside the box.

Brand came on for an exhausted-looking Thomson, Conway came on for Gibson and Henderson replaced McDonald.

Montrose received warm applause from the Links Park faithful at full-time, something which hasn't happened too often this season.
