Entirely by chance, I bumped into Kev Webster today as we both carried out our day jobs. Kev agreed to pose for a picture and we discussed the new season and "that goal"...

In his short time at Links Park, Kevin Webster has become one of the most talked-about players at the club. His mazy runs up the right wing have made him one of the most exciting players to watch, and his controversial goal against Berwick in the Scottish Cup tie at Links Park last season catapulted him into the headlines in the back pages of the newspapers.

I met him today at an event unrelated to football, but he happily agreed to pose for a picture and we had a short discussion about the new season and "that goal".

I asked Kev if he was looking forward to the new season. He said that the squad had recently resumed training and that the first session had gone very well. He mentioned that he was optimistic about the possibility of an experienced striker joining the club.

He also set the record straight about his controversial goal against Berwick. He stated categorically that he did not see the injured player, understandable for a player focussed on the game, and he was dismayed by the reaction of some of the Berwick players.

It was a pleasure to speak to Kev, even for the short time, and I got the impression he was a quiet sort of fellow, but I was impressed that he was quite happy to chat about his time at Montrose and to accept my request for a picture. I'm just amazed that I had a camera with me at the time!
