Jim Butter returned between the sticks, and the manager must have been wondering if he'd made the right choice as his blunder led to Johnston opening the scoring for the Blue Toon after 37 minutes.
However, Montrose's young guns fought on and Robbie Henderson equalised for the Mo after 43 minutes. The crowd had to wait until 83 minutes to see Webster's wonderstrike take all three points.
