Friendly, Monday 19 July 2004, Links Park, Montrose. MONTROSE 2 (Spink (21), Trialist (48)) KEITH 0 Fresh from Saturday's victory, Montrose hoped to continue the winning run against the team that had beaten East Fife at the weekend.

Montrose wore their away strip with Keith in navy blue tops and white shorts.

Henry Hall made a number of changes from Saturday's starting eleven, including three trialists, one of whom was Darryn Smith who had done so well against Forfar.

Montrose started where they left off against Forfar launching into attack after attack. Wood and Watson could well develop into Henry's first choice pairing up front this season, and Smith was making some fine inroads on the right of midfield. After 25 minutes, a defence splitting pass from Martin Wood found Spink, who'd nipped in behind the Keith defence. He still had some work to do, as the ball was bouncing, but he deftly lifted it over the keeper's head and finished it off with his head.

Keith looked shaken and montrose continued to come at them but with no further counters by half time.

Stephen, Ferguson, Smart and Lannen came on for the second half. Montrose continued to dominate and Darryn Smith cemented his shout for a contract at Montrose by scoring a fine goal with a low drive from the right side of the penalty box.

The match really fizzled out as a contest after that, and Henry can be pleased with the effort his teams have shown. He must feel happy that some of the the young players on show tonight could certainly do a job for the team this season.

We heard tonight that Saturday's match against Cove Rangers has been switched to Links Park with a 3 pm kick off. This will be the first visit of John Sheran, now manager of Cove, to Links Park since leaving the Mo last season.
