Scottish Football League Division Three, Monday 3 January 2005, Borough Briggs, Elgin. ELGIN CITY 2 (Dickson (33), Martin (83)) MONTROSE 2 (Kerrigan (30), Smart (55)) Montrose stutter again in a game dominated by the Mo and a certain Mr Freeland...
BY all accounts we should have taken three points from this one and but for a refereeing decison which led to Elgin's second goal, we would have. Whistler, Alan Freeland, oft mentioned in these pages, disregarded a linesman's offside flag as Elgin pushed forward to score their equaliser, to the dismay of Gable Endies everywhere. Indeed it seems that Montrose have to endure..., erm, enjoy the company of that particular controversial official more often than most.
Och well, thoughts now turn to the not insignificant matter of a cup tie against Queen of the South on Saturday. Come on you Mo, and let's see a good turnout!
