GET READY FOR EDDIE!

The waiting is over and Eddie Wolecki has been named as the new manager of Montrose FC. Eddie "the Eagle" is regarded as a bit of a legend at Links Park and had two spells at the club in the early 90s.

The official Montrose FC site contains a short article about Eddie's exploits as a Mo player.

As well as starring for Montrose in his playing days, he also can claim to have scored seven goals in one game for Deveronvale.

He comes well-regarded from Dundee junior club, Lochee United, who were bottom of the league when he took over in 2001,

However, he turned them around and they won the East Region Super League and made the OVD Cup Final against Tayport in season 2004/5. Eddie has always said he wanted a crack at the senior game, and it looks like Montrose have got their man at a great stage in his career. He has numerous coaching badges and is currently studying Sports Coaching and Development at the University of Abertay. He is reknowned locally for his professional approach to coaching and the treatment of players.

He brings his assistant from Lochee Utd, Ewan Peacock, as assistant manager. Ewan is also no stranger to the coaching badge.

Ewan's appointment spells the end of Ian Gilzean's time at Links Park.

Eddie and Ewan face a tough opening to their senior management careers when the club takes on Berwick Rangers at home on Saturday. MMSM wishes them all the best.
