Upcoming Black Country Derby, WBA v Wolves

With the midlands long awaited black country derby fastly approaching, Two of our board members wanted to have a go at writing. not bad considering John is a Newcastle Fan and Katie is one of our resident Wolves fans.

With the forthcoming fixture between West Brom and Wolves at The Hawthorns fast approaching both teams will be looking for victory to get an early push for promotion. Wolves out of both teams have enjoyed the brighter start to the season claiming 13 points from 8 games while West Brom are close behind with 12 points from 8 games. Both teams have had a mixed run of form of late, with Wolves recording a win against Leeds and losing to Derby and Barnsley, whereas West Brom have recorded a win against Leicester, a loss against Preston and a draw against Southend which has resulted in a lot of supporter pressure on West Broms manager, Bryan Robson.

West Brom have by far the most injury worries with Steve Watson, Curtis Davies, Neil Clement, Thomas Gaardsoe and most recently, Martin Albrechtsen all currently injured. Wolves have it a bit easier with injuries at the moment with only Jackie McNamara,Guilherme Finkler, Denes Rosa and Michael Oaks all coming back from injury. All are expected to be fit for the Black country derby. Both teams will be hoping lady luck will be with them and no further injuries will arise.

Past games from this fixture at The Hawthorns show that West Brom have won 34, Wolves have won 17 and 23 draws and with 223 goals the fixture can promise goals and excitement. The last 3 times West Brom have played Wolves at The Hawthorns have ended in two draws and one victory for West Brom, so Wolves will be looking to record their first victory at The Hawthorns since the 1996/1997 season which they won 4-2.This local derby promises to be a good game with both sets of supporters set to turn up in great numbers to give the game a fantastic atmosphere. As ever the match promises to be eventful with goals. Only time will tell the outcome.
