Martin O'Neill set to match Albion's asking price

28/08/07 Aston Villa boss is reported this morning to be prepared to meet Albion's asking price of £10 million for defender Curtis Davies. Like many of West Brom's stars, Davies has been the centre of rising transfer speculation this summer. Villa and Spurs being front runners to land the highly rated defender.

Villa's interest in Davies came under question yesterday as news broke that O'Neill was set to sign Fulham defender Zat Knight.  But the arrival of £4 million Knight has not ended the Villa bosses interest in Davies.  Albion expect to hear from Villa before the transfer window closes on Friday.
