Can Albion make it two successful cup runs?

Success could be coming to West Bromwich Albion in more ways than one this season. Apart from already having secured a place in the Semi finals of the FA Cup, in a year where with 3 Championship sides left there will never be a better chance to win it, and the Baggies also still look odds on to win promotion. But how many Albion fans also know that their Ladies team are on the verge of success?

This Sunday (16th March) at 2pm, Albion Ladies will take on neighbours Birmingham City in the final of the Birmingham FA County Cup.  This is a repeat of a final fixture which took place two years ago, and Albion Ladies will seeking revenge for the 6-1 thrashing dealt to them on that day.

Manager Chris Holloway is already enjoying success with his WBA WFC side; both of his senior sides recently enjoyed success over their local rivals Wolves Women, for the first time.  The first team emerging 1-0 victors and the second team with an impressive 3-0 victory.

The rally call for success comes at the same time as a rallying call from Captain Jonathan Greening.  He has stepped up his sides race for promotion and FA Cup success by calling all his team mates to secure their places for the semi final by impressing in the league.

Albion will face Leicester City tomorrow at the Hawthorns, and Greening is hoping that the prospect of a place in the side against Portsmouth in early April will inspire them to overcome a Foxes side that are scrapping for Championship survival.

But for those who literally can’t wait for the big day on April 5th, WBA WFC will take on Birmingham City this Sunday at the Ray Hall County Ground in Perry Barr with a 2pm KO.
