Whatever else has been or could be said about West Bromwich Albion this season, there can be no denying that one thing that has impressed about Tony Mowbray’s side is the ability to score hatfuls of goals. It seems to be something that has certainly caught the eye of England Under 21 coach Stuart Pearce, who has called up two Baggies strikers for his squad next week.

The already piling up fixture list is bound to take its toll on all at Albion, but now Ishmael Miller has an extra fixture to consider as well.  The pressure has been released somewhat in recent times from the up front pairing that started the season.  The coming to form of Roman Bednar and the arrival of Luke Moore from Aston Villa has allowed Mowbray to give Ishmael Miller and partner Kevin Phillips a bit of breathing space.

But the Baggies striker, a permanent acquisition from Manchester City in January, has not escaped the attention of Stuart Pearce.  He has been selected for the squad which will take on Poland next Tuesday in a friendly match.  Miller has hit 15 goals this term for Albion, including a hatrick recently which helped secured their place in the semi finals of the FA Cup by overcoming League One opposition Bristol Rovers.

He joins team mate Luke Moore who has also been chosen to represent his country by Stuart Pearce.  Moore’s recent fortunes vary however, with him now facing a three match ban with the Baggies after being shown a straight red card in Saturday’s home defeat to Leicester City.

Both of Mowbray’s men will be hoping to get a slice of the action, but with three other forwards also in the squad, the competition for places will be tough.  Baggies fans at least will not have to travel far to see their players in action.  England take on Poland next Tuesday, 25th March at Molineux Stadium, with a 7pm Kick off.  Tickets are still available and priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
