Back on home turf - another gut wrenching derby

Admittedly it is with some trepidation that I return to ‘home turf’ this Tuesday. Another Black Country derby, and another nail biting end to the season, and with both sides desperate to take all three points at Molineux tomorrow night this is going to be about as uncomfortable as it gets in my book.
It is with extreme disappointment that I look back at last season’s play off meetings. Getting beat at Molineux was a let down considering how well I thought we’d played, but not turning up at the Hawthorns for the second leg is by far the largest of the two disappointments.
Then there was the 3-0 league drubbing at the Hawthorns earlier in the season, something which in all honesty I am quite happy to forget. But nothing quite compares to the gut wrenching cold sweat that seems to awaken me in my sleep amidst loud subconscious screams that seem to be connected to some mild recollection of another 3-0 pasting at Molineux in the FA Cup.
Everything about that day was humiliating from start to finish, with quite possibly the score line being the easiest to swallow. Seeing the Southbank ‘boing boing’ is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen, simply for the fact that it was allowed to happen in the first place. And even I went red with shame to hear the rings of “you sold your seat for a pie and a pint”. A factor which was of course out of all Southbankers hands, but nonetheless the chant had an air of truth about it. I wonder to this day whether Jez and his cronies felt the heat on their cheeks as we did ours.
I was most surprised to see a 0-0 draw at the Hawthorns in October just passed. When you are used to pastings it kind of becomes expected, so to come away from there with a point was most pleasant for a change. But it has changed nothing in terms of tomorrow’s game. I don’t know what my gut instinct is telling me, but I do know it’s churning round at one hell of a pace – which kind of indicates that tomorrow is going to be a most uncomfortable day indeed.
These last few years have been a nightmare where this derby game is concerned, if you're of Gold & Black vintage.
However, just as I was beginning to forget all the pain, along comes Jemma with the above article; practically rubbing it in with her VERY unwanted reminder of that South Bank fiasco.
(Ho, hum...I nearly forgot I was on the Boggie site, so I guess I can't complain TOO much, eh?)
Never in all my f*cking days have I felt so enraged, bitter and bloody seething as I did, that day....so I hardly needed reminding. I'll never forgive or forget that, and I know there's a whole generation of Wolves fans out there who will forever hold a deep grudge, judging by what I hear.
Well done, Moxey/Wolves/Wolverhampton Police...
...you created a monster amongst the locals; something you saw the result of AFTER the game when hundreds of our lot went ballastic, fighting toe-to-toe with Riot Police...
...gas cannisters set off...
...a Police van nearly overturned...
...11 Police Officers hospitalised...
...many cars and properties damaged...
...I could go on, it was sheer, utter madness that day.
AND ALL TOTALLY PREDICTABLE, TOO
However, it won't, I fear, be the last occasion; far from it. After all, the die has been cast.
On a lighter note -and returning to matters football- let's remember that old, old adage:
Every dog has its day.
...or, in the case of tomorrow, perhaps that should be 'night'?
Fingers crossed, Jem....fingers crossed....

COME ON YOU WOLVES....GERRIN' TO UM, AND F*CK 'EM OFF!
