WBA 2007/08 Championship Champions

By Tony Pollard
May 4 2008

Well done to Tony Mowbray and the players for an exciting brand of football, and a hatfull of goals to boot. Not a lot of fans first choice as the gaffer. But in his first full season has produced the goods and in style. Mr Peace I suppose has to take credit aswell this season. He has come in for flak in previous campaigns, as he has in this one.

But the club has moved foward in a steady manner. Free coach travel, reduced season ticket prices.  Reduced match day incentives all to be commended.

On the pitch, some very attractive football, winning plaudits from football fans the length and breadth of the country. An FA cup semi final resulting in another Wembley appearence.

Thank you for a wonderful season.

We'll thrash them when we play em lol

Need heavy investing. Dominating the championship is one thing and thr gap between championship and premership is very big. If your gonna have ANY chance of survival, your need a heck of a lot of players.

Not sure where you are going with the arrogance thing Kate - I personally (and it is my opinion so don't be offended, I'm not having a go at you) think that that kind o arrogance applies more to Wolves than Albion.

It was our manager that came out and said he was aiming for top two, it is our board that always harp on about the "premiership set up" at Wolves, along with many of our fans.

I think Tony Mowbray has kept his head down, done his job and succeeded. The club itself is very well run, certainly better than Wolves. Take the season ticket prices for example - even if they expected promotion, which still don't think they took for granted, it shows they are in touch with their fans.

How are Wolves cocky and arrogance? we have had nothing to be arrogant about for years,

Where as on the other hand last season when wba was on the way to wembley it was we are gonna win we are on our way to prem ect. oh dear what happened they @#$%& up.Now im hearing the bollox of we are a mini man u and arsenal, are the @#$%& they are not even a patch on them! Talk about being in dream land!

Also they was gonna win fa cup they @#$%& up on that too.

Fair play to them for getting promoted but i aint gonna say i want them 2 do well if i dont lol. Personally i dont give a @#$%& how they do but to say i want them to do well would be bollox. Im Wolves through and through and dont give a @#$%& how any one ellse does. I want wolves to succeed and thats all i want.

Like i say i get on with Tony ( when hes not taking the @#$%& lol) and chris and i speak 2 Jane and Noal on here and i get on ok with them. So im not having ago at them im speaking about there club in general.

I agree there club is run better then ours and they treat there fans with more respect but we cant change that so we have to live with it.

can i have my say?
first of all kate you have already summed up the arrogance issue for me .

albion have won the league not just promotion and as far as i am concerned that gives us tha right to be cocky does it not ?

we have come second best in our last 2 promotions to man city and norwich but this time we have been the best team in the football league and nobody can deny that.
for many parts of the season we were worried that we wouldn't even make the playoffs with our away form .

and as for the f.a.cup there's nothing for you lot to be happy about with us reaching the semi final and being knocked out by pompey

i dont understand why it is more important to wolves fans for albion to fail than wolves to succeed!

you bought seb and didn't he get the golden boot?

we bought Bednar,Morrison ,Brunt,Tiexera,Miller and got promoted

food for thought ........one man doesn't make a team
speculate to accumulate buy more win more
doesn't matter which way you want to see it it woont change anything

Its definately not more important to Wolves fans see Albion fail than Wolves succeed. It does admittedly for most though 'cushion the blow' so to speak.

I've said this before, and I don't mind saying it again. We became accustomed, particularly during the 90s, to being the team out of the two of us that enjoyed more success, we had the money, the stadium etc etc, whilst you didn't so much. We even had the 'joy' of seeing you relegated to the third teir.

That as you are aware has gone topsy tervy over the last few years. A painful pill to swallow. Add into the equasion the fact that you have had more success with promotion than we ever did with our 'sugar daddy' and his millions and you have your answer.

Having to concede that your nearest and dearest neighbours have overtaken you in footballing stakes as well as being a better run club isn't easy for us Wolves fans.

That being said we shall plod along next season with the same half hearted belief and optimism as always. Fingers crossed as normal, and maybe with the vain hope that whilst we struggle to pick up points versus the likes of Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday that maybe, just maybe you will be getting taught a lesson at Old Trafford. No consolation to me - I do wish you all the best of course. But when you're down and out you gotta take your kicks somewhere eh.
