Dean Kiely wins Golden Glove award

There was an extra reason for Dean Kiely to celebrate this season yesterday, apart from being part of the side crowned champions of the Championship the veteran goalkeeper picked up the Golden Glove award for the most clean sheets over the duration of the season. Kiely just pipped Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessey to the award - notching up 18 clean sheets to Hennessey's 17.

The Chairman of the Football League, Lord Mawhinney dished out the PUMA Golden Glove and Golden Boot awards yesterday, commenting that in football it is so often keepers and strikers that make the difference between success and failure.

Both awards were handed out to Midlands clubs.  Striker Kevin Phillips had to settle for runner up in the Golden Boot award.  He finished just one goal behind Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake who scored 13 of his 25 goals at Plymouth Argyle before his January move to Wolves.

i personally think you should only pick up the award if you have scored all the goals for the one club

and not because its seb i honestly believe that

But the award is for goals scored in the league - they were all scored in the Championship. Had it been goals in all competitions then Phillips would have won!
