Clement fears fresh knee surgery

West Bromwich Albion defender Neil Clement could face a long spell on the side lines if specialists confirm he needs surgery next week. Albion's longest serving player, who has missed the best part of two years through injury and a loan spell at Hull City, rekindled his popularity with Baggies fans towards the end of last season when Mowbray recalled him to play a major role in the promotion push

Hull City had been rumoured to be looking at getting Clement back before the transfer window closed.  But the defender, who appears to have a future at the Hawthorns, could be looking at more knee surgery if specialists can find no other way forward.

Clement is yet to play a role this season after picking up his latest injury in a pre season friendly against Real Mallorca.

The news has not come at a good time for Mowbray, as James Morrison is already playing through the pain barrier with a similar knee problem, and new acquisition Abdoulaye Meite is returning hoe from his international duty with a calf strain.
