Is the fat lady warming up to sing at the Hawthorns?

The picture may well be ironic, but just a year ago the excitement and anticipation of Premiership football was airing around the Hawthorns. Twelve months on the picture paints a very different story, as defeat to Stoke City yesterday afternoon left the Baggies 8 points adrift with games running out.

It's not quite all over yet though.  Albion fans will be glad to hear that until it's mathematically impossible there is still hope at the Hawthorns.

But even Mowbray's players have lost the optimism which they had a few weeks ago.  And with the 'target games' having been and gone, with little to show for it, the fat lady is dressed and warming up as Albion prepare for life in the Championship next season.
