West Bromwich Albion have today been linked with a move for out of favour Glasgow Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson. West Brom were resigned to a fate of Championship football on Sunday after slipping to a 2-0 defeat at home against Liverpool. Intentions for next season will remain unclear until manager Tony Mowbray is sure which of his current squad will still be at the Hawthorns come August.
But sources claim that Mowbray has already expressed an interest in bringing Ferguson to the club after he was given a brief tour of the club facilities before attending the Liverpool game as a guest of the club last weekend.
Rangers boss Walter Smith has already made it very clear that Ferguson will be allowed to leave the club in the summer. The 31 year old midfielder was stripped of his captaincy at both club and international level after making inappropriate gestures during a Scotland game against Iceland. The club took disciplinary action against Ferguson after this event and an alleged drinking session with a Scotland team mate.
