Peace rules out January spending spree

Amidst plenty of media speculation that Albion are ready to spend big bucks this winter, comes the news from Jeremy Peace that the club are not seeking any permanent deals in the January transfer window. This is a tune that Baggies fans will be familiar with over the last few seasons, with little to no transfer activity taking place in the January window at the Hawthorns.
Albion have been linked with a number of high profile signings during this winter, but the club issued an official statement this afternoon stating that no money was available to spend during the January transfer window.
Chairman Jeremy Peace revealed that all exisitng funds had already been absorbed by the current squad - accounting for new signings and wages for next three years. He announced that the finances of the club were viable to ensure success, and would not hinder any promotion push, but ensure financial stability should the club remain in the Championship beyond the period of their two year parachute payments.
Instead Albion will look to bolster the current squad with a number of loan signings - with a possible option to buy at the end of the loan period.
Manager Roberto Di Matteo will also be counting on the return of lthe ong term injury plagued James Morrison and Ishmael Miller. Two of Albions most active players in recent seasons.
