Carson apology over 'out of charatcer' red card

West Bromwich Albion and former England international goal keeper Scott Carson has apologised to Baggies fans for his sending off during their 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City on Tuesday. The 24 year old was dismissed from the fixture at the Hawthorns midway through the second half after attempting to headbutt Cardiff Michael Chopra.

The resulting penalty gave the Bluebirds a 2-0 advantage over Albion, at a time in the game where they were pressing for an equaliser.

Carson, who is also club captain, has aplogised to all at the club for the sending off which he says is completely out of character. Whilst he believes he was provoked by Chopra, Carson accepts that his reaction was uncontrolled and inappropriate - leaving the referee with little choice other than to dismiss him for violent conduct.

Carson will now serve a three match ban in the Christmas run-in. Dean Kiely, who came on to replace Carson in the second half on Tuesday, will start for the Baggies in fixtures against QPR, Blackpool and Peterborough.
