West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo awaits news on whether Athletico Madrid's Pablo Ibanez will become his third signing of the summer so far. Newly promoted Albion have already secured the services of Gabriel Tamas and Steven Reid for next season, and had hoped to make Ibanez - who under went a medical at the Hawthrons yesterday, their third signing of the summer break.

But the Spaniard - recently released by Athletico Madrid, was unable to sign yesterday due to hold ups relating to his medical, even though it is believed he has already agreed personal terms.

Scans of the player need to be properly assessed by the medical team, whcih could now mean that Ibanez is unlikely to sign before Tuesday.  Should the medical be passed with no problems, Ibanez will sign a pre-contractual agreement at the Hawthorns until the transfer window officially opens on 1st July.

The 28 year old caused a storm at Athletico Madrid 2 years ago after he agreed a deal to move to rivals Real Madrid - a move which later fell through leaving him out of favour with Athletico's fans.
