Di Matteo considers Boateng move

It is no news to anyone that ex Hull City midfielder George Boateng has been training with West Bromwich Albion this week after becoming a free agent. Boateng left Hull upon their relegation from the Premiership last season, and requested to train with Albion to keep his fitness up. The 34 year old is good friends with James Morrison, after the pair spent some time together at Middlesbrough

However the rumour mill is today rife with the news that Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo is keeping an eye on the player with the view of signing him at the Hawthorns on a permanent basis.

It's certainly no secret that Albion seek to bring in strength in their midfield, espcially after the release of Robert Koren shorlty before the World Cup kicked off in June.

Boateng, who was one of many players to fall victim to Hull City's wage budget slashing during the summer, might favour a return the the Premier League.  He is thought to be unkeen on a move to Celtic, despite being linked with the SPL club earlier this month.

Boateng could have the vital top flight experience that Di Matteo will be seeking.  But at 34 years old he will have to go a long way to prove his fitness to the club before any gamble of a more permanent fixture for him at the Hawthorns is made.
