It's bye bye Baggies for expensive duo

West Bromwich Albion have written off more than £5 million by revealing that Gianni Zuiverloon (pictured here) and Abdoulaye Meite have been released from the club.  Zuiverloon set West Bromwich Albion back £3.2 million in the summer of 2008, with Meite costing a tidy £2 million during the same transfer window.

Both players were signed by ex-manager Tony Mowbray, and both have struggled to make an impact in the first time in recent seasons.  It is believed that Zuiverloon had already made a decision to quit the Hawthorns before news of his release came through.

The duo are joined by Giles Barnes, who has also been shown the door.  All three players' contracts have come to an end, and the club have decided not to take up the extra 12 month option that was available on all three players.

There is better news for Roman Bednar and Marek Cech however.  The club has decided to take up the extra 12 month option on their contracts.  Bednar is currently on loan with Turkish club MKE Ankaragucu.

Doesn't mean Bednar and Cech won't be sold though. Both would hold decent transfer fee's i would have thought.
