Is Hoddle Set For The Managerial Hotseat?

If you believe what you read, then Glenn Hoddle is set to become the next Albion manager, but the club have stressed that no decision has been made on who shall replace Gary Megson as the next boss

Well, the wait for a new boss could finally be over this week as it emerged that former Southampton and Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle could take over the vacant managers position at the Hawthorns.

Hoddle has been out of a job since leaving Tottenham, but the former England manager could even be in-charge of the Baggies against his former club Southampton this weekend.

After mounting speculation, the club released this statement: "The board is in the process of forming a shortlist of candidates for the vacant job of team manager and this will be finalised shortly.

"Following interviews with these candidates, an appointment will be made and there will be no comment from the club until that time.

"It is most important that the right individual with the right desire and motivation is appointed to continue the long-term building process at this football club."

If Hoddle does take over as boss, it could see a return of former Baggies coach John Gorman, who is currently at Championship side Gillingham, but Gorman is playing down speculation "I honestly haven't had any connection with Glenn and as usual his name is in the frame for any job going," Gorman told BBC Radio Kent.

"But in football you never know what's going to happen."
