Albion’s search for a striker continues today with rumours about interest in Newcastle United’s Shola Ameobi. Albion have already had bid’s rejected for Palace’s Andy Johnson and Spurs Fredi Kanoute.

Robson has made getting a striker his top priority this season and it seems to be a very hard job finding one.

Reports from Newcastle Evening Chronicle say:

‘As well as West Brom, Spurs have had a long-standing interest in the 23-year-old Ameobi but the striker insists he wants to stay at St James' Park.

He says: "There is always talk at the start of a new season but my heart is in Newcastle and I want to help United win a trophy."’

Getting a proven Premiership striker is expensive and tricky. If they are already proven they are most likely already playing for a Premiership side. What premiership side would want to sell there proven goal scorer?
