Clifton won the Premier Cup for the first time with an emphatic victory over Quarndon at Queen's Park, Chesterfield. Quarndon, put in to bat, were never really in the game as Clifton fielded well to restrict Quarndon to 137, before cruising to victory in style with 10 overs and 6 wickets to spare.

Botha bonanza secures Premier title for Clifton
Clifton become the fifth team to win the Derbyshire Premier League title in the five year history of the competition. They secured the title with an emphatic 201 run win against Denby at Chapel Lane. Star of the show was South African import Ant Botha who scored an incredible unbeaten 200.

On the final weekend of the season, Jambrose and I decided to take one final look at some County League action. With Colston Crawford supplying me with regular score updates from Sawley and Sandiacre, I was still able to keep up to date with action in the Premier.

Monster cheque handed over to Alfie
On the last weekend of the season, the Monsters 2003 project was closed with a presentation evening at Marehay Cricket Club, scene of the Monsters cricket match back in July. The event, which captured the imagination of the cricketing world, raised £4200 for young Alfie Swift to fulfill his wish.

Ashford In The Water secure promotion spot
Ashford In The Water secured promotion to the top flight of the Yorkshire & Derbyshire League with victory over Millhouses in Division Two. Ashford were dismissed for 125 (S.Mumtaz 8-44) but Millhouses crumbled for just 71 (Marsden 5-22) to see the Derbyshire side claim the second promotion place
