Windows knock boosts Gloucestershire

Matt Windows' unbeaten century gave Gloucestershire a lead of 295, in their Frizzell County Championship clash against Derbyshire. Sixteen wickets fell on Wednesday at Bristol, with Gloucestershire bowled out for 192 and Derbyshire reduced to 153 for six in reply.
| The visitors, seeking promotion, added only 34 runs to their score on Thursday morning. Gloucestershire closed on 290 for five, with Windows undefeated on 143. He faced 211 deliveries and struck 22 fours and three sixes. The number four came to the crease with Gloucestershire on 43 for two. Chris Taylor was then clean bowled by Graeme Welch for 12 to leave Gloucestershire on 84 for three, and that became 110 for four when skipper Mark Alleyne went for the same score, held by Andrew Gait at first slip off the same bowler. Alex Gidman then crawled to nine off 39 balls before he was yorked by Lian Wharton and that left Jack Russell to join Windows in the middle. Russell was 37 not out at the close. Earlier, Derbyshire were skittled for 187 thanks to some fine bowling from Mike Smith (five for 69) and Jon Lewis (four for 63). Luke Sutton (24 not out overnight) hit a gritty 46 off 96 balls.
