Abbey Glass Division 1

Belper Meadows 162-6 tied with West Hallam 162-6

West Hallam batted first and their top scorers were Wes Essex (39) and Campbell Ogilvie (32), with Belper's Ben Tait taking 3-31 Nobody in the Belper innings reached 30, but they collected an identical total and an equality in the number of wickets taken, a rare occurrence in this League.with Danny Haddon taking 4-48 for West Hallam.

Lullington Park 168 lost to Shipley Hall 171-2 by 8 wickets

This was a big win for Shipley because Lullington are a strong side. Howard Dytham made 33 and David Adams 52 for Lullington, with bowling honours going to Harvinder Singh Sodhi (3-45) and Simon Lacey (3-22). Stefan Gamble set Shipley on the way to a comprehensive win with a fine knock of 55 and and Sodhi completed a good match in adding 74 not out.

Morton 245-5 beat Spondon 62 by 183 runs

Spondon looked like contenders for the League title last week but it was a different story this week. The club was so short of players this week that they had to cancel their third team fixture. Morton have been strengthened this season by the return of Geoffrey Deane who scored 55, and John Aspinall added 45, but the real match winner was James Millar who scored 79 and went on to take 5-23 as Spondon were skittled out for a miserable total.

Nutbrook 76 lost to Stainsby 142-9 by 66 runs

Nutbrook's optimism, as one of the promoted sides, has been dented by two defeats in their first two games. Greg Smith was Stainsby's top scorer with 39, and for Nutbrook Daniel Brooks took 3-21. The Nutbrook reply collapsed against the accurate bowling of Andy Barlow (3-20) ans Paul Leatherland (5-23).

Selston Town 104 lost to Elvaston 201-8 by 97 runs

Elvaston batted first and were well served by Andy Brear (73) and Rob Torry (49). For Selston there were good spells from Scott Godfrey (5-53) and Gary Staples (3-60). The arrival of Dave Watson has added a new dimension to Elvaston's attack and he demolished Selston in taking 7-28. At the moment Elvaston look a very strong side.

Staveley Welfare 193-9 lost to Marehay 195-3 by 7 wickets

Staveley batted well enough and offered a stern challenge, with good performances from Peter Camm (54) and John Douglas (59). For Marehay Dan Parkin took 3-42 and John Longden 3-66, and in their reply they demonstrated that their overseas signing Arif Mehmood is a real match winner. After losing three wickets Mehmood went on to score 106 not out, with good help from Adrian Vickerage who was 37 not out. Marehay also look a very strong side

Aston on Trent 85 lost to Mickleover 148-9 by 63 runs

This was Mickleover's first game of the season, and it provided them with a good start, though it must be said that Aston's batting let them down badly. Top scorers for Mickleover were Chris Mottram (39) and Anthony Greatorex (35), and for Aston Rafaqat Ali took 4-35. Aston were demolished by Stuart Divers (3-11) and Chris Bolton .(5-27).

Denby 2nds 59-5 beat Ticknall 58 by 5 wickets.

Recent rain posed difficulties for the batsmen of both sides, but Denby adapted better. Lee Atkin caused the downfall of Ticknall, taking 6-22, and Ryan Cowley caused problems for Denby in taking 3-9

Little Eaton 132-9 lost to Duffield 133-2 by 8 wickets

Steven Muskett made 32 and Oliver Latham 31 for Little Eaton, with Dave Gadsby taking 3-57 for Duffield. Chris Elliott set up Duffield's reply and Phil Jordan steered them to a comfortable victory with 34 not out.

Ockbrook 2nds 166-7 beat Alfreton 90 by 76 runs

Nigel Sulley carried the Ockbrook innings, scoring 65, with Alfreton's Matt Lineker taking 3-27. Lineker was also top scorer with 30, but Alfreton were well beaten, with Tom Holmes taking 3-20

Rolleston 173-7 drew with Brailsford 154-6

Top scorers for Rolleston were Dave Bowering (37), and Kevin Dent (34 not out), and for Brailsford James Dakin made 33 and Andy Williams was 62 not out. Best bowling was by Rolleston's Guy Hall (3-13). An even contest which could have gone either way.

Sandiacre Town 2nds 217-4 dec drew with Allestree 178-5

A good team effort by Sandiacre saw good knocks from Jake Needham (36), Ben Ruhrmund (30), Nick Briars (33 not out) and Graham West (46 not out), with Dave Gifford taking 3-78 for Allestree. Then Chris Ruck (57) and Danny Walton (47) gave Allestree some hope, but the challenge petred out and they ended well short, with Needham taking 3-56.
