The Derbyshire Building Society Silver Link Trophy Semi Finals July 28

Spondon 359-2 beat Aston on Trent 170 by 189 runs

The main contributor to this huge score was Peter Davies, the vice-captain of Spondon. He scored 170, which included 21 fours and 3 sixes. There were also big scores from Dean Vickers whose 95 not out came off 37 balls and Joe Ashdown who was 71 not out. Aston couldn’t match this run rate and were dismissed for 170. However, there was one landmark in the Aston innings, Syed Faisal scored 18 runs which made him the first player in the League to reach 1,000 runs this season.Other scorers for Aston were Sikander Iqbal (36), Irfan Fazal (31) and Mohammed Ashfaq (30). For Spondon Lee Longden took 3-44 and Lee Fox 3-20

West Hallam 133 lost to Lullington Park 135-6 by 4 wickets

These two teams played each other the previous day in the League when West Hallam gained a winning draw, This time the result was very different. West Hallam’s batting let them down, with Lee Barrow (35) the only player to exceed 30. For Lullington Ryan Hetherington, known principally as a batsman, took 5-11, and when they batted Andrew Goodwin steered them home with 50 not out.. For West Hallam Danny Haddon took 3-35.

The Final of the Silver Link Trophy between Spondon and Lullington Park will be held at Denby on Sunday 11th August.
